Packaging Development Expert

team:

Product Development

Here at innocent, we’re on a mission to make it easier for everyone to get more fruit and veg into their bodies. We started back in 1999 and since then we’ve gone from selling a few smoothies at a music festival to becoming one of Europe’s biggest drinks companies with around 1,000 people (and the B Corp seal of approval).

It’s nice to be able to say things like that but we’re not patting ourselves on the back just yet. We want to show everyone that it’s possible to be a successful business while looking after people and the planet too, so we’re trying to get better in pretty much every way. And that’s where this job comes in.

what you'll be doing

We love making products that make it easy for people to live well from the delicious goodness of Fruit and Veg. Our team of Packaging Developers make the magic happen, creating innovative and sustainably focused packaging to protect, deliver and sell our great tasting products to our drinkers.

We’re looking for a Research & Development (R&D) packaging development expert to join our Packaging Development Team, working with a talented bunch as part of the wider R&D team, sitting within the overall Marketing team.

You will be supporting the delivery of key projects within our wider R&D and Marketing functions to provide the packaging solutions that get our great tasting products into the hands of our drinkers. The job is based in our London head office – Fruit Towers with hybrid and flexible working available but a requirement to travel (mainly within Western Europe) for up to 25% of the time.

This is a widely varied and collaborative role in which you will engage with our own procurement, brand, force for good and operations teams (amongst others) as well as external supply and production partners as you seek to engage stakeholders with your vision of the future of packaging.

You will play a vital part in driving effective management and communication of packaging changes which align with our sustainability, innovation and cost goals as we strive to leave things better than we find them.

You’ll be responsible for a key packaging component within our portfolio, for which you will develop a strategic plan to implement across the business as we look towards future packaging legislation whilst pushing the boundaries of innovation, always ensuring a focus on sustainability and keeping our drinkers needs at the forefront of everything we do

you'll have

  • Experience in an FMCG food environment
  • A deep understanding of plastic packaging components and an ability to share that knowledge in ways that build others understanding
  • Top-notch project management skills to keep tasks on track and hold people to account
  • A passion for delivering innovative, sustainable and responsible change
  • Clear, confident communication abilities to all levels within the business and external
  • An ability to build meaningful and productive relationships with our supply partners
  • Acumen for budget management across project and equipment sourcing disciplines
  • The ability to prioritise, separate the rotten apples from the best of the bunch and deliver on our key commitments

you'll get

  • To be a key member of a team at the heart of the business, taking ownership of vital packaging in the best way to help us deliver our innovation plans for the ‘fruiture’
  • To develop your career with access to industry conferences, training courses, and mentoring
  • Hands-on with prototyping and testing
  • To work on eco-conscious packaging solutions with real-world impact

We want innocent to be a great place to work, so we do lots of stuff to make people feel at home and try to make sure everyone’s career is shaping up the way they want it to. There are plenty of opportunities to have a go at something new or take things further.

In exchange for helping us do business in the right way, you’ll get a solid rewards package that includes a salary (phew), private healthcare, a target-based bonus, and a bunch of other nice things like a day off on your birthday. And yes, you get free smoothies.

We also know that not all our drinkers come from the same background, or think the same – so why should we? At innocent, we want to be a great place to work where a diverse bunch of people from all backgrounds can turn up and thrive. When we hire, we want all the juice, bits, and pulp that make you who you are.

Even if you don’t think you can tick all the boxes, if the job sounds right for you, come and throw your hat in the ring.

Probably best to get your skates on though, as we might close this early if we get loads of applications.
